7-Day Beginner Ski Package

7 days on snow 8 days total Skiing Beginner

About this package

A week is where skiing starts to click without you forcing it. You get two more coaching days than the 5 day course, and those days go into terrain variety and lift use rather than repeating the basics. By day seven most guests are skiing blue runs with the instructor watching from a distance instead of standing beside them at every turn. This is the course we usually suggest to people who want to come home actually able to ski, not just able to say they tried it. One private instructor for the whole week, with equipment, lift passes and daily transport included. The trip runs 8 days in total with arrival and departure.

Pricing is built around the equipment you already own. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and receive a quotation.

Day wise itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Hotel check in and equipment fitting.

Day 2: Ski basics

Stance, balance and the snowplough. Covered faster than a first timer on a short course would manage, because you have the days to build on it.

Day 3: Linking turns

Turn after turn down the slope instead of one at a time. This is the point where skiing starts to feel continuous.

Day 4: Chairlift and blue runs

Full time chairlift use and your first extended sessions on blue terrain.

Day 5: Technique development

Edge control and rhythm. Smoothing out the turns you already learned.

Day 6: Terrain progression

More varied terrain, including gentle slopes near the edge of the piste where conditions allow.

Day 7: Independent skiing and review

You ski largely on your own with your instructor watching from a distance, then sit down for an honest review of where your technique has landed.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast and airport transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Is a week too long for a complete beginner?

No. The risk with a week is soreness, not boredom, and your instructor builds in easier afternoons when your legs need them. Seven days gives you room to have one bad day and still finish the course strong.

Will I be skiing without an instructor by the end?

On blue terrain, most guests are. Your instructor stays within sight on day seven, but the skiing is yours.

Can my partner and I take the course together at different levels?

Talk to us before you book. Two people learning at genuinely different speeds usually do better with separate instructors, and we would rather tell you that upfront than have one of you frustrated all week.

Does this course include any off piste skiing?

Only gentle slopes just off the groomed runs, and only when conditions allow. Gulmarg's real off piste terrain is avalanche country and it is covered by the freeride packages, not the beginner courses.

What fitness level do I need?

Ordinary. If you can walk uphill for twenty minutes without stopping you will be fine. Skiing at altitude is more tiring than it looks, so people who do some cardio before the trip tend to enjoy the later days more.
