7-Day Freeride Snowboard Package
About this package
Same week, same guided structure, on a freeride board. Seven days is enough time for a rider to move from lift accessed side hits into sustained alpine powder lines, which is a bigger jump than it sounds. The extra days over the shorter trip give your guide room to sit out a poor snow morning and to open up terrain that only makes sense once he has watched you ride for a few days. This is off piste in avalanche country, so it assumes you already ride confidently on piste and are comfortable in variable snow. The trip runs 8 days in total with arrival and departure.

Day wise itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, fitting and avalanche briefing
Board and boot fitting, then a full avalanche safety and beacon search briefing before anyone rides.
Day 2: Warm up runs and terrain assessment
Easier off piste lines while your guide reads the snowpack and watches how you ride.
Day 3: Powder riding off Phase 1
Steeper and deeper lines in the lower Gondola terrain, guided run by run.
Day 4: Phase 2 terrain
Higher terrain off Phase 2, with your guide picking the line and the pace.
Day 5: High alpine freeride routes
Longer routes toward the bowls around Apharwat Peak, snow and weather permitting.
Day 6: Weather margin day
Deliberately flexible. Storm days go to lower terrain or rest, good days become another full day out.
Day 7: Best snow, guide's call
Your guide picks the zone from overnight snowfall and stability.
Day 8: Departure
Breakfast and airport transfer.

Frequently asked questions
How is riding powder in Gulmarg different from a European resort?
The snow is generally lighter and drier than most of the Alps, and the terrain is less controlled. There is far less patrol infrastructure, which is exactly why guides and avalanche equipment matter here.
Are flat sections a problem for snowboarders?
They can be, and Gulmarg has a few. Your guide picks lines that avoid the worst of them, but bring a solid pair of legs for the occasional skate or short walk.
How big are the guided groups?
Group size depends on the booking and the terrain being ridden. Ask us at booking and we will tell you what the ratio looks like for your dates.
Do I need to have ridden powder before?
It helps a lot. Confident piste riding is the minimum, but a rider with a few powder days already will get far more out of the week than someone experiencing deep snow for the first time.
What is included if I already own avalanche gear?
Tell us your equipment list before booking. If you own a beacon, shovel, probe or an airbag pack, we build the quotation around what you already have.
