5-Day Freeride Ski Package

5 days on snow 6 days total Skiing Advanced

About this package

This is not a beginner course. Gulmarg's freeride terrain is lift accessed off piste, which means real avalanche country rather than a marked run with a net at the bottom. The package is built for skiers who are already comfortable on piste and want to get into the powder Gulmarg is actually known for, with a guide who reads this terrain every season. Days are shaped by snow conditions rather than a fixed script. Your guide looks at the mountain each morning and adjusts. Expect early starts on the Gondola, avalanche gear on every run, and terrain choices that put your safety ahead of chasing the deepest line of the day. The trip runs 6 days in total with arrival and departure.

Pricing is built around the equipment you already own. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and receive a quotation.

Day wise itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, fitting and avalanche briefing

Equipment fitting, then a full avalanche safety and beacon search briefing before anyone leaves the base.

Day 2: Warm up runs and terrain assessment

Easier off piste lines while your guide reads the snowpack and watches how you ski against the day's conditions.

Day 3: Advanced powder skiing

Steeper and deeper lines off Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Gondola, guided run by run.

Day 4: High alpine freeride routes

Longer routes toward the higher bowls around Apharwat Peak, snow and weather permitting.

Day 5: Best snow, guide's call

Your guide picks the zone based on overnight snowfall and stability. This is often the best day of the trip.

Day 6: Departure

Breakfast and airport transfer.

Frequently asked questions

How good a skier do I need to be?

Confident on groomed runs, comfortable on a chairlift, and able to ski at a steady pace without needing to stop every few turns. Powder is more tiring than piste, so fitness matters as much as technique.

Do I need my own avalanche gear?

No. A beacon, shovel, probe and backpack are included, and your guide runs a beacon search briefing before your first day on snow. If you already own touring or avalanche equipment, tell us before booking and we will work it into your quotation.

What happens if the avalanche risk is high?

Your guide changes the plan. That might mean lower angle terrain, a different aspect, or a day spent on the lifts instead. Nobody in this operation loses a client to a line that was not worth it.

Is the itinerary fixed?

No, and it should not be. The day order above is the usual shape of a week, but overnight snowfall, wind and stability decide where you actually ski. Guides who stick to a printed schedule in this terrain are a problem, not a feature.

What if there is no fresh snow that week?

Gulmarg holds snow well, and old powder in sheltered aspects can still be excellent. Your guide knows which zones keep their snow. A week with no new snowfall will still have skiing worth the trip, though it will not be the deep day you saw in the videos.
