14-Day Guided Backcountry Ski Package
About this package
Two full weeks of guided touring. Enough time to work through multiple zones, wait out weather without losing the trip, and let your guide plan around the snowpack instead of a fixed itinerary. This is the longest programme we run and it suits skiers who want depth in a season rather than a single good week. You skin into terrain the lifts do not reach, including Babareshi, Drung and Tosamaidan, carrying full touring kit and avalanche rescue gear. Fourteen days also means your guide watches the snowpack build and change over the trip, which changes what is possible in the second week. The trip runs 15 days in total with arrival and departure.
Pricing is built around the equipment you already own. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and receive a quotation.
Day wise itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and touring gear fitting
Airport pickup, hotel check in, and fitting for touring skis, bindings, skins and poles.
Day 2: Safety briefing and rescue drills

Day 3: Skinning technique and warm up tour
A shorter tour close to Gulmarg to sharpen skinning efficiency, kick turns and transitions before the longer days start.
Day s 4 and 5: Babareshi
Two days in the Babareshi zone, using the remote transport, with objectives set each morning from current conditions.
Day 6: Weather and rest day
Held flexible for storms, flat light, or recovery.
Day s 7 and 8: Drung
Two days touring the Drung zone, with route choice driven by stability and snow quality.

A day working with the snow science kit, digging pits and reading the layers, plus lower angle skiing nearby.
Day s 10 and 11: Tosamaidan

Zone and objective chosen entirely on what the snowpack is doing by this point in the trip.

Frequently asked questions
Who is a fourteen day touring trip actually for?
Skiers who already tour regularly and want a season's worth of backcountry in one go. If you tour a few days a year and want a taste of Gulmarg's backcountry, the 7 day trip makes more sense.
Can I really ski fourteen days in a row?
Almost nobody does, and the itinerary is not built on that assumption. Rest and weather days are written in, and your guide adds more if your body asks for them.
Does the snow change much over two weeks?
Considerably, and that is one of the arguments for the longer trip. Your guide watches storms come in, watches the snowpack settle, and plans the second week around what the first week revealed.
Can I use my own touring equipment?
Yes, and it usually reduces the cost. Send us your equipment list before booking, including touring skis, avalanche safety gear or an airbag pack, and we will build a custom quotation around what you already own.
What happens if the weather is bad for several days running?
It happens, and it is exactly what the length of the trip is designed to absorb. Your guide moves to sheltered terrain, uses the lift network, or calls rest days, and the trip still finishes with plenty of good skiing behind it.
